Long-Term Hair Reduction for Smoother Skin
Laser Hair Removal is a popular treatment designed to reduce unwanted hair growth on the face and body. It works by using targeted laser energy to heat the hair follicle, helping to slow future growth and leave the treated area feeling smoother over time.
At Janine Smith Aesthetics, Laser Hair Removal treatments are tailored to the area being treated, your skin type, hair colour, hair thickness and treatment goals. It can be suitable for areas such as the face, underarms, bikini line, legs, arms, back, chest or other selected areas where unwanted hair is a concern.
Because hair grows in cycles, Laser Hair Removal is usually recommended as a course of treatments rather than a one-off appointment. Janine will advise how many sessions may be suitable for you during your consultation.

What to Expect During Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment
Your Laser Hair Removal journey will begin with a consultation to discuss the area you would like to treat, your skin type, hair colour, hair removal history and any medical factors that may affect suitability. A patch test may also be required before treatment begins.
During treatment, laser energy is directed at the hair follicles in the chosen area. You may feel a brief heat or snapping sensation as the laser works, although this will vary depending on the area being treated and your individual sensitivity.
Laser Hair Removal works best on hairs that contain darker pigment, and results can vary from person to person. It is not usually effective on white, grey, very blonde or very fine downy hair. Because only some hairs are in the active growth phase at any one time, a course of treatments is usually needed to achieve the best reduction.
Before and during your course, Janine will advise you on how to prepare. This may include avoiding tanning, sunbeds, fake tan, waxing, plucking or bleaching before treatment. Shaving may be recommended before your appointment, depending on the area being treated.
After treatment, the skin may look pink or feel warm for a short time. Janine will provide aftercare advice, which may include avoiding heat, steam, exercise, swimming, fragranced products and strong sun exposure for a short period after treatment. SPF may also be recommended to help protect the treated skin.
Laser Hair Removal is not suitable for everyone. Treatment may not be recommended if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, recently tanned, taking certain medications, have an active skin infection or have a medical condition that affects suitability. A full consultation will always be carried out before treatment goes ahead.
